Alright, thus a race is introduced. The Cartographers are exactly what their name implies.

They make maps.

This is what you get when an alien race sends off self-upgrading, self-replicating, and self-sufficient AI-manned space probes on a permanent journey to map the known galaxy. After a couple hundred thousand years.

The Cartographers are AIs, and almost wholly uninterested in anything but their mission: gather data on local planets, map stellar region, and continue on. This disinterest extends to their battle doctrine: Disable enemy weapons, and move on.

Their motility platform units house one AI unit each. The limbs segments are not connected to the torso or each other physically, but rather by repulsor fields. This allows for easy modularization.. limb segments with mission- or environment-appropriate equipment may be slotted into place in mere seconds, allowing the units incredible environmental flexibility.

These limbs have shown incredible inability to be pulled apart by mere force... as the repulsor field strengthens when 'stretched' or 'compressed'.

Unfortunately, most models of motility units do not come equipped with vocalization equipment, as the Cartographers commune wirelessly when in Motility Platforms and are one conjoined mind when not. Circumstances requiring ability to confer with other races directly, platforn to individual, is not a situation they often encounter. They prefer mass-broadcasts.

This unit is currently engaged in scanning the nutritional data of an apple.
