HEY
what is this?
Its... a grashopper? Locust? he doesn't have wings... you can see the little... bits where they're supposed to be growing in or so... I guess making it a juvinile.
This little bugger ran right up into my hand like he was supposed to be there. I got him out of the driveway and moved him closer to the house so he doesnt get squarshed.

I have similiar looking bugs in my driveway. They come in shades of grey and brown and match the limestone. They don't fly, just hop--which is why my cat has a particular fondness for them. I'm quite curious what they are too. It's possilbe they maybe some member of the grasshopper family that adapted to living in a rocky area.
oh yeah I remember those. In Louisiana where I'm at we get Locust in the black color, like that, and in a bright yellow speckeled in red and orange. Those things can get 4" long, fly, and scream at you if you poke at them with a stick. They also spit out a definsive liquid that smells like cough syrup... ~o=0~;
