Her name was, and still is, Meg. She was very, very old when she passed. She had some very serious dental issues on the right side especially, as you can see. Most of the lower teeth were missing on that side naturally, the bone there is healed over. The mandible is very "swollen" and warped from apparent infection at one point.
The skull is massive, she wasn't petite by any means. She measures 24" in length.
The teeth in the maxilla above that grew longer then the others due to the fact they had no other teeth to grind on. So they just kept growing with the others. The mandible and maxilla both have unusual ridges and bumps all along what should be smooth surfaces. Especially the back portion of the mandible.
The two bones you see pictured with her are her hyoid bones. Humans even have hyoids, they tend to not be attached to anything but rather, float in muscle beneath the chin.
Please note that she wasn't killed for taxidermy or for our collection. She was put down to end her suffering, and was very old. She'd lived a long good life, and is now immortalized to help edcuate others and provide reference images for those in need. Please keep all rude comments to yourselves.

What a beautiful old beast with ugly issues due to age <3
I love what you do and how youdo it.
Question, I have a young tarantula who will go through several stages of molting. Are you at all interested in a molt exoskeleton? I have no need for so many when she does molt again.
