I've been trying my hardest to wear through my tiny stock size tires and finally got some more appropriate ones.
the old ones were 235/75R15 (29") BFG-ATs which sucked camel dick in the mud and snow.
New ones are 33X12.5R15 Goodyear Duratracs, 12.5% or 1-1/8 times longer radius and 2" taller at the axle.
I already like them, the day after i got them it crawled over a snow bank like it was nothing (one thing 4X4 Magazine praised them about).
They also fit perfectly with no lift.
The thing that really got me is all of the little design technologies they put into them such as aggressive siping and rugged tread edges (rather than flat) for snow and ice traction.
A constant cross section in the center for 0 road noise.
and my favorite which I've yet to test, there's little fins in the bottom of the tread to help break the suction when packed with mud or snow so you can clear them easier.
I was about to get the Kevlar MTs, but I really didn't need that much tire and there's no state trust land here to go 4 wheeling anyways. maybe some day when I move back to AZ and put a small lift on it I'll move up to 35", I'll need to change my differential ratios for that though.
I've still got a few tanks to go to see where my GPM is at, they definitely eat up the tourque. but I've saved my stock size ones with about 10,000 miles left in them for any cross country trips or moves if it's too bad.

Dude its nearly as bad here (South Dakota) the black top roads are bleached white 6 months out of the year because they lay down an inch of salt no matter how little it snows. it's so nasty too, it cakes onto everything, I can't even make it to work without washing my window at least 3 times along the way. But I found a good car wash that sprays rust inhibitor underneath and it's doing fine so far with no coating.
Omg your bronco is beautiful an exactly the color I've wanted to paint mine! I've got a 1994 bronco XL with 33x12.50 BFG Km2 tires and I'm putting a 4 inch lift on it this summer. Oh by the way those duratrac tires I'm sure you will love them I had a set on my old Z71 an they performed really well : )
Yeah I've been reading into a lot of real world tests in off road magazines, both these and the Nitto Trail Grapplers performed the best on snow and ice, which is where I'll need them most. I had BFG/ATs and they balled up so much in the mud and snow, probably in the rain too 8P. all BFG products got a bad rating on tread performance, but they're mainly known for their side-wall strength until the General red-letters came out (even worse tread, but indestructible).
It really does sound like you have done your homework which is good to do when sinking so much money in to something you have to deal with for a few years lol What I find funny is mine are M/T's an my side lugs seem smaller than the duratracs. Goodyear really hit the nail on the head with those.
It's more like OCD than homework which is a blessing and a curse.
I have to know everything about everything and compare before I buy anything.
I once spent 30 minutes deciding on a mechanical pencil that was only going to be used for paperwork at work. lol
I found one at an art store that had an aluminum body, etched grip, and 1.3mm. It was great for use on carbon paper in the pouring rain... unfortunately it broke a year later
