Well, at least for a couple of weeks, until I finished my certs and went to work back at the casino, making bank. Sad truth of this...EMTs on ambulances make just about 8 dollars an hour. 8 dollars for picking bodies off the road, breaking people out of cars, searching for amputated limbs, transporting homeless, aids infected people to halfway houses...and as a casino EMT, I make 19.50 an hour to sit around on my tail waiting for disaster. This is a messed up world, yes.

heh heh i know what you mean. i had one job that was to work for three weeks on the road.
it was a good job but i had to work my butt off. then i get a job at a nuclear plant to practically sit and watch other people work.
and that paid more then any other hard job i did. go figure.

well, depends, i dont know the buisness...if your ambulance company is employed by the state, yeah, your not going to make shit...but especially in casinos, which are deep pockets, yeah, they pay you alot, but your ass is in a sling if you arnt there the split second you're needed (to decrease legal exposure, that is, to keep them from being sued)..
this is all just an assumption of course...

I hate those van ambulances, give me a II or III any day... [I'm tall, so I knock my head on those ford vans and the sprinters x.x']
Also, I dont know where your an EMT, but, in Jersey paid EMS get paid around $16 an hour, plus full medical/dental.
The big winner though are the vollies, [unpaid] Their the ones around here that pull people from cars, search for limbs, and all that crap!

I feel your pain. The main reason WHY I've never pursued a job in the EMS field is that EMTs get paid crap. I'm an EMT and I live in upstate NY. $8.50/hr is the going rate. A lot of my friends who are EMTs often work for two different ambulance companies, back to back shifts, all the time, just to make it by.
Instead, I just stick with my volunteer fire dept, and get paid doing something else.
