Second Place Prize for Amiral
Well, as the title says, this is the second place prize and it is for
amiralaesir. He gave me the idea of a pic with bothan and her twin sister Daji relaxing under a tress or just talking, so I thought this would be a nice idea and here it is: Bothan and Daji just relaxing after a picnic and chatting at the border of a lake.
I hope Amiral likes it n_n because I love his entry to the contest

I can't believe how much you can learn and use in every new pic you draw o.o
In this one you used so precisely the blue for the water that it looks so natural like clear water. And you did such a great job in the general light sense, it's all a whole and everything looks in it's place. And now you use more shades and have the lights in the right places n_n
I particulary loved she looks so great in pose, color and face, and the red looks perfect on her. Also Bothan with this effect of underwater in her foot and tail blends her into the background so naturally too o.o
Even greater job than before my love. I still can't believe how fast you're learning and how lucky i am for having you with me *huge hug and cuddles her with a kiss* You're great my dear, i'll always be cheering you so you can try new stuff everytime n/////n

awwwww you are always so sweet my love *cuddles* n////////n thanks for the lovely comment sweetie, Im very glad to hear from a great artist as you are that Im improving in my style and coloring effects, but I cant say I did it all alone, you helped me a lot with your advices and also with your pics (you know what I mean =P). Thanks honey, for being with me and for cheering me so much, you spoil me ^///~ jejejeje
Such wonderfu shading and detail, I can only reccomend a darkening of the shadows, but who is to say that it was not simply cloudy so the shadows were greatly softened. Aside from that, perhaps a little more ripple detail of the water where body parts are in the water. You are doing great! =+}
Geez, ya keep callin' me sweetie and I'm gonna get cavaties. =+D
I think ya got the right idea with the white, so what I suggest is use the "thick" white lines to represent the surface of the ripple that reflects the direction of the light source, then use a line of the generic water color (size depends on the perspective of the viewed image), followed by a darker shade line of the type of pigment used (in other words, just press a bit harder with the pencil color used to make the generic water color~ some times ya might have to use a dark gray or lightly use a black pencil to do this).
Hope that helps! =+}
