It was some time i didn't draw furry characters on military/political background.
Well... here we have a drawing for the ongoing conflict in Syria.
The anthropomorphic character it's a Golden Jackal: i've imagined it matched well with the country (being also an animale of the Sirian wildlife).
Some background:
While the US and some other western countries keeps founding with the taxes of american citizens the supposed "good guys" of the Free Sirian Army, and while of course scores of such weapons and ammunitions ends helping the Al-Quaeda formations (Al Nusra Front and the "ISIS", Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) that are now gaining more and more local power compared to the other rebel forces (they're also the ones that control the only provincial capital out of control of the Government), on the Latakia front something of unexpected occurred.
Veterans of the marxist Turkish rebel group of the DHKP/C of Syrian origin formed a secular militia named "Syrian Resistance" also known as the "Popular Front for the Liberation of the Sanjak of Alexandretta".
Even if their possible ultimate purpose it's to establish a guerrilla to gain independence (or annession to Syria) of the Hatay Turkish province, at the moment the formation it's known for an explicit communist / guerrilla nature (with special admiration for Che Guevara figure): it's a secular group, including women that are shown without veil in their videos.
The milita now numbers around 2000 men and women, currently involved in fighting on the Latakia Front where they played a key role in contain and halt the Al-Nusra and ISIS offensive on August 2013.
During such offensive, despite the military defeat, the Islamists proved once again their barbarims, slaughtering up to 200 civilians and kidnapping an equal number.
Also it's worth to note that another secular /socialist group: the Kuridsh PYD, an ethnic Kurdish party similar and linked to the Turkish-based PKK and the PJAK (fighting against Iran) it's scoring victories and causing heavy damages to the Al Quaeda formations in the Hasakah province.
The Irony of the Fate it's that now in 2013 we have the USA indirectly (but aware of this) providing resources and help to Al Quaeda groups (because the so-called "FSA" has poor control of the loads of ammunitions and weapons that reach the rebels-controlled areas), while communists and socialist groups as the Popular Front in Latakia and the PYD in Hasakah are making the job to halt and destroy such terrorists.
It could surprise many, to learn that the main interest of the USA to back such terrorist groups it's actually to show support to the different heirs and princes of the Gulf Monarchies: these men that fight each others to gain their thrones in Saudi Arabia, Quatar, etc... enjoy spenting score of money to found this or this other islamist group and the USA and the other western countries are more then willing to make happy this or this other prince supporting them.
Comments and opinions are extremely welcome ^^

You are not the first to expose these ideas, but i guess it's depending a bit on your personal view of Russia (i mean, if you are a pro-Putin russian it is totally understandble).
If you are not, I should remind how the Baathist Syrian while including (two) communist parties in coalitions pre-war, was not communist itself and the current leadership proved pretty much interested in distancing from socialism and it did so de-facto with the constitutional changes during the earlier phase of war.
While there is one group openly communist (The Syrian Resistance) to Assad, it spanned out of a Turkish faction active in Hatay province. And so far showed little political plans to re-institute socialism in Syria (quite unlikely, despite the almost complete victory for Assad).
Concerning Rojava "supporting western imperialism", i would say such like include one mistake and one interpretation I do not approve.
The mistake is the presence of some kind of "western imperalism": while it is still a powerful word among the left, people should be clear that such thing is almost expired. The "peak" of power of the United States as unique global power lasted from 1991 to 2001. The (failed) wars in Afghanistan and Iraq were badly directed attempts to re-install the Usa in such position, resulting in nothing.
What we are looking now it is rather a local cold-war between Saudi Arabia and Iran, the absence of the USA as international imperalist figure was clear since the downfall of Gheddafi where the USA played a minimal role as part of the NATO and the whole action was orchestrated by France and UK and Gulf monarchies. Streactly speaking we are not talking of "western imperalism" in action in Syria, despite all parts claiming each other to be backed by this.
The interpretation i disagree it's the "support". I should remind how the current leading coalition force in Rojava is constituted by the SDF, the Kurds are organized into the YPG armed wing of the PYD party. The PYD party it's one of several socialist-oriented partiens in middle east (PKK in Turkey, PJAK in Iran, PCDK in Iraq) all part of an "umbrella" named KCK and oriented by the "Democratic Confederalism" ideology (a merge of eco-green social-anarchism).
As soon as the war in Syria begun, the international coalition obviously attempted to back a plethora of the "Free Syrian Army" groups, at first out of convenience, and later out of necessity with the rise of ISIS and their takeover of half of Syria and Iraq. All these groups proved completely unreliable (often including islamists) and were defeat on the ground. It was only when the ISIS was bogged in the Battle of Kobane that the International coalition took the side of the kurds because they were the only effective ground force capable to beating ISIS at the time.
So your line "Rojava supports western imperialism." should fixed more like "Western power (with little imperialist left ambitions today) supports Rojava out of convenience".
And guess what, that's welcome! I should remind that historically it's not the first time these temporary "alliances" are forged, just looking to WW2 and the collaboration of Soviet Union with USA&GB: just 20 years later the western imperalists (yep they were full in it at the time) made a military intervent in Soviet Union to back the White counter-revolutionaries.

While Assad is a honest anti-imperalist revolutionary? Eh... xD
Extra tip for you (hoping you will never face real hard-nuck alt-right/rightwing folk), insulting someone it's just the final remark of lack of arguments.
For when you will seriously need it, work on it (and "spamming videos" rather than building your own argument is another point of defeat, albeit less strong than insulting).
