Awwwww.... well, big pet peeves with me in regards to mecha are articulated hands. Just never liked the idea. Seemed rather impractical.

That depends entirely on what, exactly, is the intended purpose of the mech in question, I'd think. Long-range gun platforms, sure. But in a lot of scifi stuff involving such vehicles, combat often takes place up-close in cities and such, where mech-to-mech grappling or other melee combat could be possible. In BattleTech especially, mechs can uproot trees to use as enormous clubs... with terrifying effect!

Also, think of rescue or mining mecha, which might need to have the flexibility and capability of (extremely large and strong) human hands.

I would love to, but I'm not too confident in my ability to color machinery. :\ I might experiment.

I'm not exactly skilled in that area either. The only advice I can give you is, keep your strokes straight, and keep things very square and linear.

Nice! I made a silkscreen shirt of a veritech in battroid mode back in high school. Full colors (in Rick's theme colors).

Speaking of which, have you seen the latest Macross stuff? Macross Zero is sort of a prequel (5 episodes) featuring Roy Fokker, and the newest series, Macross Frontier, takes place further in the future. So far I'm hooked. I loved Robotech when I was younger (still do).

I saw an episode of Macross Zero, and it looked really good, I'd love to watch more of it.

Would there be any point to watching them in chronological order? Cause I still have never seen all of Robotech.

I'm not really sure on that. I've only seen all of the original english release of Robotech, and a little bit of Southern Cross (which in the english recut was supposed to be a direct sequel to Robotech... which it really isn't). I need to go back and get the original Japanese release, since I'm sure a lot was altered from the original vs. what I saw as a kid.

I remember watching the cartoon back in the early 90's, a friend had taped them all when they first came on, so when we got the vhs's to watch it was like christmas. :) Battlecry was a good game. :)

I think the Invid Saga was better, the Cyclone kicked plenty of ass in Invasion :D
