Of all things, I was commisioned to do this for the menu of a Chinese restaurant!

A friend of mine then was Chinese, and his father was opening a restaurant to be called the Huo Ho. Unfortunately, the restaurant never opened and the art never used on a menu. I did have it published on a fanzine later, but it wasn't the same...

As for the name, Huo Ho translated literally as Good Good from Cantonese. But it doesn't make any sense unless you translate a little more flexibly. Then it comes out something like Good Goodies, the Huo being a descriptor and the Ho a noun for something good to eat. My friend even coached me how to pronounce it, and I surprised him be getting it right. Whether I could do it any justice after 25 years, though, is another matter. Both date and my name are at bottom right in Chinese ideographs.
