Here we have a 1981 GMC 7000 4x4 with an automatic transmission and a 420 big block, showing just under 18,000 original miles on it. It started off life as a midi-pumper for the Springfield MA fire department, before being retired and converted into a dump / plow truck.
Oh yeah and as of last night, I own it.
I guess it's a good thing I have over 1400' of driveway to keep plowed out.

I know it's in awesome shape.... The info I was able to gather on it, made it seem that the guy who did the original conversion used it as a parade piece. I haven't posted anything on this truck before Sir... I think you're referring to the Ford Super Duty that one of our DPW drivers bought for his own business on the side.
His family actually pressured him to sell that truck to and FD instead of destroying such a beautiful light duty rescue. I also put him in touch with a couple of emergency vehicle brokers who advertised it for him. In the end he was very happy, he made a good profit on the truck and now he's looking for a purpose built dump truck.
Tail wags... and noses.
