I've got a little bit higher a concentration of colored panels in this one, so I'm sure you color people will enjoy that. This may be because I had someone proof read this for me and say which panels they would want to see colored as an outside-viewer. Smaller panels take about half as long to do as large panels, that last panel on the bottom must have taken like 2 hours. O.o;
So I'll go step by step here in a sec, but as a summery, this page has events take a thankful turn as Violet stops just short of going inside and gives talking to Pinky another chance. Things haven't necessarily gotten any better though, just evolved. As it turns out the guilt instilled in Pinky for breaking down, something that really isn't her fault, guilt formed partially by her own mind, partly by the Camaro's bullying tactics, and perhaps partly at witnessing first hand the frustration of Mr. Brooks when he was trying to fix her. That guilt, as it turns out wasn't even valid.
Pinky had tricked herself into thinking she was being shunned by the family and by Violet simply because of the fact that she wasn't being used. As it turns out, Violet not only didn't shun nor blame her for anything, but in fact had been feeling her own guilt for the complete opposite reasons. For not making sure her dad got her fixed, for letting Pinky wind up like she is as junked rusted heap. Though this guilt was mostly amplified now as she realized by being with Pinky up close just how beat up and rusted out she's become.
We also finally get to see the Camaro get burned a little, all you people who've been waiting for something like this.. relish in his pain I suppose. <XD Not that it's not deserved, but it is nice to also see another expression on his face other then smug self-pride.
=== (additional information for the obsessed) =========
- I'd remembered reading on one of the many 'Worthless lyrics interpretations' on some of the forums floating around, someone had said that Pinky repeating and sputtering her words was perhaps hinting at some mental breakdown. While I'm not so sure about that, I could see how all the mental abuse and depression and years alone could have screwed her head up at least a LITTLE. So that may have been where I got the idea for her to hallucinate little Violet there in front of her at the beginning. ^^; Isn't it the most adorable little bow-headed hallucination though?????
- Pinky getting Violet's attention without her hearing her was the first time I started playing with non-verbal communication between them, kinda playing loosely on my own experiences with Lilly. Violet doesn't in fact hear anything, but she feels a kind of a vibe from Pinky she can't quite understand or pin-point.. but a feeling that Pinky doesn't want her to leave.
- I REALLY liked being able to make a close up panel showing just how weathered Pinky is. Of course, being a cartoon, I can't show all those details all the time. I kinda call it the Ren & Stimpy effect, you know, those scenes where they'd zoom in to a super detailed shot? Usually of something disgusting?...Yeah like that.. Pinky might look just fine from far away but close up she's damaged.
- The whole flash-back scene is sorta screwed up. Somewhere along the line of this series lost about 10 years. Originally Pinky was to be hauled off right before Violet went off for Collage, and she got the Camaro as a graduation gift form High-School. Because of that the setting is kinda off a decade, everything is very 1970s. The car Violet and her mom are getting out of is Mr. Brooks' 1970 Ford Pinto Wagon: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_TsdjySqKQ.....Wagon.+-+1.jpg
This scene would of course be sometime after Pinky broke down of course, but before Violet got the Camaro. So I suppose sometime within her last year of college..... sigh.. even though she LOOKS High School aged >< anyway. This Pinto Wagon has actually been at the house this whole time, well since after the 70s of course, but it's always just been parked out on the road. ;) I guess Violet must have had weekend classes if her dad is home.
Also, for people who wanna be truly immersed, that sound effect for Pinky's engine being cranked in that flash back can actually be heard. I've got Mitzy at my house cranking her engine up on youtube, you see it here, this is exactly what it sounds like even down to it being the same car:

- Alright, gotta wrap this up. Last thing is, in the panel with the Camaro, this is the FIRST shot ever of the front of the Brooks home. :) So for any of you who have been curious what the front of the house looks like now you know.
Thanks for reading.

Aw. I wonder how it must feel for Pinky to discover the truth, to see she's been living in a lie for so many years. :(
I really like the part where Pinky calls out to Violet and she turns even though she technically doesn't hear her. The "vibes" as you call it - you hear it even though there's not a sound.
I also like how you emphasized the fact that Violet can't hear her and just keeps on talking, interrupting Pinky.

You see, I love getting your feedback in particular buddy, you really like to read into things and I appreciate the hell outta that.
You touch on a very good point, I suppose there'd be a hint of sadness, regret that she didn't know the truth and that it could have spared her some extra pain the last couple years. But I'd imagine it'd get quickly overwhelmed by the fact that she knows the much happier truth, that she had been loved and cared about along.
Heheh yeah, them vibes, yeah I brought in a little bit of my own Lilly experiences and OS stuff into this.
Man, I'm just glad I emphasized it enough for people to know! O_o you have no idea how hard it was to be sure people realized that when all they're doing is reading word bubbles. Or that people realized that to Violet she didn't see Pinky's face like the audience can.

AAAAAAA, WHY!? ITS NOT FAIR. even though its a comic. that's not even a real car/ or real people! I still feel like so much shit for reading this. striping cars is how I fix cars. What must the silver car must think about addie after I riped its engine and guts, ITS very hart out and put it into another car. this is so wrong...
You've really made me think Mr.Halfdude EVERY time you draw/write.

No it's NOT fair, and it's representing the unfairness that goes on in real life, to real cars.
Yeah, that'd be something I probably couldn't do for a job, if I knew the car I was taking parts from was 'dead' it'd be a different story though. There's something noble about taking the organs from a doomed car so that another may live, but yeah I see the problems you're having with it.
That's the whole purpose of this comic, I'm very happy to hear that. ^^
