My 2 leopard geckos I thought I'd post because they took such a good picture!
I wanted something to put on my desk that was a little more interactive than a fish, but not as needy as say, a bird. I've owned leopard geckos before and they are perfect. I love them so much even down to housing and gut-loading mealworms for them.
Scully was the first one (pictured in the back). She's a high yellow morph (possibly with eclipse lineage from her snake eyes) which is pretty common. She's shy, really chill and a little smaller than Sarabi. I got her for free off of craigslist from a mom who was done with caring for her busy daughter's gecko (though she seemed to know a lot about them and took good care of her).
Sarabi is the more curious gecko pictured in the front. She's a Mack Snow Tremper albino. She got her name from the majestic pose she does on top of "Pride Rock" aka her warm hideout. She's really active, loves hunting, and enjoys sitting on my shoulder while I work. She came from a breeder who was downsizing their collection and only cost me $30. I'm considering breeding her in the future to create Supersnows or dreamsickle morphs.
And there you have it.

Mealworms are okay for them when they are adults. For hatchlings or younger geckos crickets would be best. I think the big problem with the exoskeleton comes from refrigerated mealworms that are basically starving or older mealworms that have a thicker hide. I gut-load mine so they are fat and full of vitamins! I do plan on mixing up their diet some with Dubia roaches once they're big enough and crickets. I used to keep crickets in a cricket keeper, but one day they all escaped and were chirping in my house for weeks. 9__9
How big are the horn worms? My geckos are still sort of young and have growing to do!

Ahhh ok! I've never dealt with meal worm so I didn't know much about them other than them being known to cause impaction or whatever xD, it makes sense if you're feeding young mealworms that they'd be a little less crunchy lol
The hornworms I feed my boy are about 1.5-2" I'd guess, and fat like a pinky finger lol. They're super squishy though, they're Jim's favourite food by far, he lights up when he sees one lol. You can get smaller ones sometimes too.

Ohh I'll have to find some hornworms for my babies once they're big enough. I try to avoid feeding them adult mealworms or superworms for that reason. The best ones are white and squishy from shedding. You are right about the impaction issue though. Same thing with sand from substrate. There are people selling "calcium enriched sand" for reptile substrate, but it really just makes them constipated. :<
