I just want to know that there's SOMETHING out there that makes you happy.

Sure there is! Video games, webcomics, beer, junk food, cartoons, drawing... Its just easier to make jokes about the stuff I hate.

IMO the "television for hipsters" sums up the New Series perfectly (...the whole thing oozes a "Ho ho, we're not taking any of this seriously, why should you?" attitude, like the writers think they're Douglas Adams - well he did write the worst Dr. Who stories in the original series).

As for the original show, its fans like to pretend it was some sort of ground-breaking genre mash-up, but the reality is that was your average low-budget sci-fi adventure show. No more, no less.

The only thing unique about Dr. Who is just how sodding long it ran for.

I know! It just irritates the hell out of me when all shows have to do to become popular is one massive fucking fanwank dripping with self denigration and references. "THE DALEKS LOOK LIKE SALTSHAKERS OMGFSLOZ" Ugh.
