Ember © Me

Ember is one of four robots built by Dr. Badger, a very smart if eccentric old man who wanted to give robots the ability to have free will. Thought robots of his world were around everyday, they just never functioned beyond their programming. The four that he built were designed to not only harness the elements to their power, but also have personalities and wills of their own.

The first created was Typhoon, a raccoon bot. Ember was second. The third sister, Tempest, was a penguin. And the fourth was Geo, the only cat robot and having a male body and personality of the three others. But Dr. Badger found in his old age he couldn't do everything by himself, so Ember was switched on. At first she thought of herself as a superhero, wanting to go beat up evil robots and save the world! But those dreams were put aside when she was handed a broom and told to keep the place clean. She became a assistant to the doctor, often cooking and cleaning when he became so distracted and failed to do so himself.

She often would visit the town to pick up groceries and parts for Dr. Badger as well, interacting with the locals and getting to know them quite well. Without realizing it, Dr. Badger had actually achieved his dream of a robot with free will mostly because of the human and fur interaction Ember had with the townsfolk and with the Doctor himself.

This came halt when Dr. Badger "perfected" his programming, saying how uploading it to the remaining robots and into Ember would give them free will. But doing it to Ember would reset her personality and memory, resetting her. She refused this, arguing and pleading with the Doctor to let her keep her memories and sense of self. He was so caught up in the moment of his glory he completely failed to realize Ember was doing everything a person of free will would do. Ember, if a fit of rage and sadness stormed out of their home and ran into the town to hide from her "father". Dr. Badger had already begun programming process on the other two sisters, Geo still only partially built at this point, and realizing in his hubris he had completely overlooked exactly what his "daughter" was more than capable of and who she had become. Before he could leave to apologize, Typhoon and Tempest woke up.

While the programming gave them free will, it also warped their personalities. They were arrogant and abusive, seeing themselves god-like and unstoppable. They trashed the lab and decided that humans and furs were too dangerous to just let roam free. They needed to be controlled with force. Taking the programming and converting it into a virus, they left Dr. Badger alive as a "gift" of building them. They left into the town, using a wireless signal to infect other robots into becoming their servants and violently attacking people.

Ember eventually returned home, finding it in shambles with Dr. Badger hurt and her unfinished brother, Geo, destroyed and torn to pieces. Learning what had happened, Ember got Dr. Badger to make modifications to her body to be a combot robot. She set out to stop her sisters, hoping to bring them back peacefully.
