"Gil-Galad was an Elven-king.
Of him the harpers sadly sing:
The last whose realm was fair and free
between the Mountains and the Sea."Its pretty bad when your cellphone takes better pictures of your art than your scanner does. lol Did this today on a whim - well, maybe not a whim. Been thinking about his part in Luthien's story lately ( hint, its a romantic one!) and I really want to pick back up with it again. Still need to finalize some concept art of this guy though, so here's the start of that. Gave him a little bit of a revamp but not much changed, other than giving him more of the "human" style hair instead of the usual mane. It just seems to work better with elvish hairstyles and those pretty circlets they wear.
More info on him, if you're still reading:
"Elf King of Lindon. Gil-Galad was born during the First Age of the Sun in Hithlum in Beleriand, the son of High King Fingon. Forced to flee to the Isle of Balar after the death of his father in 437, Gil-Galad - whose name means "radiant star" - was made High King after the fall of Gondolin and the death of Turgon, his uncle, in 511. After the sinking of Beleriand, Gil-Galad ruled over the surviving Noldor Elves in Lindon. During the Second Age, Gil-Galad sent his forces into the War of Sauron and the Elves, and later joined the Dunedain in the Last Alliance of Men and Elves. In 3434 Gil-Galad, armed with his dreaded spear Aeglos, led the Alliance into the Battle of Dagorlad. Sauron's forces were crushed, and for seven years the Alliance laid siege to Mordor. Sauron was forced into the open and overthrown, but in that last duel, both the Dunedain king and Gil-Galad were also slain."

No idea honestly. I can only speak for myself, but I usually make them wolves because wolves are what I'm most familiar with. I do have some other character concepts in mind for a couple of the Valar that are not wolves though, I just haven't had a chance to get them on paper yet.
