Yes, when 'a' is followed by a word that begins with a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) it is proper to use 'an' in its stead

To this persons defense, before he gets his entire entirely fucking separated from his body by an army of angry gill fans, everyone can't like everything that somebody puts out to the same degree of likability

That said, he still could have phrased it better than "I really tend to avoid your work"
