they hatched last night. i have roughly twenty and am infatuated with their walking and hunting and live.
this is scanned in to be a million times original size. most of these larva could currently fit on a pin-head.
also. if you've commissioned me and i forgot about it, remind me. because according to my calculations i'm done, but.... something tells me... there's more?

they're not terrible XD they're little beetles, kind of. I have no pictures, but they're black on both ends with a brown stripe in the middle..and VERY small. I found 'larder beetles' and they look like that, but all the pictures show them and the larvae being quite large, and mine are much smaller. perhaps another breed line. does that happen? i even found like, a tinier version of the beetleform running around. i didnt think that happened..figureed it went from larvae straight to big full grown adult...
they just eat my cat's food and hide in my clothes. normally i'd say live and let live, but finding dead carcasses in my pockets makes me gag. and stepping on em barefoot.

http://bugguide.net/node/view/92678/bgpage is kind of similar?? it's only 3-4 millimeters. though the larder beetle is only 8mm according to bugguide.
sometimes bugs just are smaller or larger than eachother depending on gender or just general variance, but once an adult i don't know if they grow. i didn't think so, either, but now i wonder, cause i've never actually read up on it.

:/ sorry if that's not much help. maybe the next time your cat-food runs out and you get a new thing of it, put it in some kind of shutting plastic container to keep new beetles from it?

The top link definately isn't my beetles...they're very cleanly marked, black with a very solid light brown strip, and then black butts. No speckles at all. Weird!
Yeah, I moved my cat's bowl and food into the kitchen so that they can be controlled easier. Tile-bugs are easier to spot than carpet-bugs, especially with all my clothes to hide under. I'd like to resort to pesticide as a last option, kinda..starve em out, if you will. think that'll work? I mean..i never EVER see more than 4 together at one time. they show up randomly, between 1-3 chillin together and thats it..
