Sorry I didn't know someone had this name as well. hehe Well my spelling is different. I know there are some furs with similar names. But maybe I will see about changing it or tweeking it. I really liked this name for a Doberman. But was also thinking Leo I had a good friend years ago who had a doberman names Leo. But one of our furs in our group is names Leo. hehe Hard to find a unique name. I will ponder on it. ^.^

Most people just know me as Toby the dobie fursuiter. The fursuiters I am aware of with same names are same name but different species/breed. I realize Toby is not as unique and special as a lot of names but I did spend quite a while researching to make sure there were no other doberman fursuiters named Toby or Tobie before I went with the name. But yeah it's a great name for a dobie. Have you considered Kobi (also spelled Kobey), or Hobie (also spelled Hobey)? Those also have a nice ring to them. I won't hate you or anything if you stick with Toby, I just know it will cause confusion at some point and I don't want to end up having to change my name this far into it just as a lot of people have gotten to know me as Toby the dobie.

ErrorFactor - This is ironic because I don't think you jumping in on this and scolding me is very polite when it has nothing to do with you and this was a friendly and civil discussion before you decided to make a stink about it. This person can and did speak for themselves just fine and I feel like I was friendly and considerate in voicing my concerns and the responses I got back were also friendly and considerate, so just what is your problem? Shakarri was perfectly capable of telling me if the name had some kind of strong emotional connection and I would have totally respected that had that been the case so I don't see how that is relevant here. Instead he/she made it clear it was not that big of a deal and even had other names in mind already. Personally, if someone had pointed out to me early on that there was already a doberman fursuiter named Toby or Tobie (there was not) I would have been thankful to someone for pointing it out and I would have changed my name both out of respect as well as out of my own desire to be at least somewhat unique and distinguishable and also to not be confused with another via their actions or reputation, be it good or bad. For example, I could be involved in things Shakarri would not want to be identified/associated with or vise versa. Its not just the name. Anything other than another doberman fursuiter with my name, that's different enough. But come on, would you knowingly make an angel dragon fursuit and call it Telephone? How about a Tiger named Tycer, or border collie named Buddy? Wouldn't you want to know if you had done that unknowingly? Do you really not see the problem with this? Maybe you wouldn't care, everyone is different, but I assure you many people do care. And I think such related discussions can be done politely and with consideration and for the benefit of all involved without you calling foul. You're entitled to your own opinions but don't act as though everyone should follow your own made up rules of conduct.


Shakarri - Sorry about this, I hope you did not find my earlier concerns/requests rude as this person does. If so I am sorry, I did not mean to be rude, just candid. I hope you are doing well and enjoying your adorable fursuit. My thanks again in reconsidering your name choice, I know you didn't have to and I want you to know it is much appreciated.

Looking back at my comment I realize how rough it came across as and I'd like to apologize. It was out of line and completely unnecessary to the conversation you had with Shakarri about the name.

I guess I just personally feel that there are so many name repeats that asking someone to change it without really knowing why they picked that name was rude. And again, this is just my own opinion. I wasn't saying everyone should follow my 'rules' as they are the ones I feel are right, but that doesn't mean that everyone feels that way as well.

In the end, I should have just let it go, but I didn't and for that I am sorry.
