Shaded-sketch commission for
LurkingWolf of his ermine character again. Sorry for the lack of uploads recently, things are reaching maximum crazyness here as I prepare for Furnal Equinox less than two weeks away aaahhh! And I'll be putting in an appearance at Vancoufur this weekend, I don't have a table but you may see me wandering around or doodling in the artists' hangout room :3
EDIT: The original story featuring this guy is now online - check it out here!]

From the Wikipedia article, kunai were masonry tools (not farming; my bad. Many other weapons had their roots in farming implements though) used a little like a crowbar, and also to punch through wood and plaster. For that use, the point would be the only thing sharpened - the rest would get dull in a hurry anyway.
As weapons, they could be thrown, but would usually be held onto and used to stab, or they could be tied to a stick for longer reach.

Ooh, that makes sense. They would have used it for spreading mortar if that was around in those days...
I do remember that giant weapon made from like five rakes tied together with knives on the ends, like a yard wide - if a warlord charged towards you you would hold in front of you and twist - it'd cut the horse's tendons and send horse and rider crippled and crashing to the ground.
