i actually found this image on a friends phone, only a few days before i commissioned my ref sheets.
I saw it in some search results, and was like: WHAT IS THAT! (in my mind: THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR!!) and thus is now my wing pattern

SCIENCE: it's actually a nebula shape
a galaxy is a collection of millions/billions of stars and shaped like a disc (much like a solar system)
nebula's are usually found inside a galaxy as a mess of materials/clouds and have no 'standard' shape
