I don't know if you have a Windows PC, but here are some suggestions for your printer problem: I think you should first try unplugging it and restarting the computer, then replugging it when the computer's on so it can try to detect the printer again. If that doesn't work/you tried it already, reinstall the printer drivers. Sometimes the drivers just need to be updated, since outdated ones can give your hardware problems. Is your Windows 64-bit? If it is, chances are that your printer and/or its drivers aren't compatible with your OS.
