x.x She demanded a background. I'm afraid my scanner may be dying. The original is WAY more intense, and scanning ate a whole layer of gradiation in the red-orange range, which is really frustrating.
Oh yes, and if the background behind her looks familiar, it should be if you've got some inkling of art history. I borrowed from "The Great Wave" by Hiroshige.

I'm still trying to figure out how to color with programs that have [undo] and the ability to erase, it's kind of frustrating trying to figure out how things blend.
Then I look at this, and realize "she did this on paper, with inky-stuff that you can't erase, and then scanned it." and have to spend the next hour cleaning my brains off of the walls. x_x;;;
I'd be hard pressed to find a single point on the entire picture with any color outside of the line... Oh! Nevermind, found one! But point still stands. =p I only found one little speck.
Also, I like how you did the feather, I want to touch it.

When I first got my markers, I was terrified of using them because they kept bleeding across my linework. I did eventually figure out how far they would bleed, so now I only go over when I'm careless. I treat them much the same way you would watercolors, working from lightest shades to darkest. I still don't push my values enough most of the time. And yeah, you can't erase, though the blender marker has *some* measure of forgiveness if you're quick. Mostly, though, it's just practice. x.x Years and years of practice. And believe me, there are artists I look at that make my brain explode too trying to figure out how they do what they do.
