You know, I always thought these had less color in them, and that their feathers were more floofy. Shows what I know.

Their feathers can actually be pretty floofy. If they stand like this they look really smooth and all (they are water birds, after all), but when they shake their wings a bit or are just generally active, they look more floofy.

How about on the head? I thought they had fuzzleheads.

Some have longer headfeathers on the back of their heads, but I'm not sure why only some. Maybe only the males, or something.

In mideival (no idea how you spell that) times, people thought pelicans brought their dead young to life by picking open their own chest and letting their blood drop in the young ones beak. It was thought that when food was scarce, pelicans fed their young with their own blood. This is because the food pelicans regurgitate for their young is red! So it became a symbol of sacrificial mother's love.
There is one wild pelican in the Netherlands, which escaped from a zoo, found one of the absolutely countless bodies of water here and has happily decided to live out it's life alone, which is strange because pelicans are very social birds.
