Chillie's one of the many OCs I have that I don't draw enough, and I don't show nearly enough of these two...

I'll give you the same explanation I gave on my comic:
"I've been seeing a LOT of questions from people who aren't already familiar with my OCs, so I'm gonna try to answer most of them here. I didn't expect to get this many new followers; I figured just about everyone reading this comic would have already known these things.
See, the way Ghost type Pokemon work in my headcanon is that they are all actual legitimate ghosts of former human beings (save for cases like Banette or Giratina where it's canonically proven otherwise). For some reason or another, sometimes human souls are unable to pass on to the afterlife, and are instead placed in the body of an infant Ghost Pokemon, and trapped there for eternity with no memory of the previous life. Ghost Pokemon only recover the memory of their lives in small pieces over a long period of time starting in early adulthood. They usually regain this memory starting with their death and ending with their birth.
Physically, Ghost Pokemon are actually dead. They don't need to breathe, drink, eat, etc. though it is incredibly unhealthy and uncomfortable for them to do so. The difference between Ghost Pokemon and a living being is that a soul in a living body is not connected to it nearly as strong, and the two can be separated with relative ease if harm comes to the body. In the case of a Ghost Pokemon, however, it is nearly impossible to separate the body and the soul. The body would have to be completely destroyed, leaving nothing for the soul to be tied to. As such, Ghost Pokemon can be considered immortal.
There is a drawback to this, however: Ghost Pokemon age and develop at an immensely slow rate, 10,000 times slower than a human being. Gem, for instance, is a little over 270,000 years old as this comic takes place. That's the human equivalent of 27. Luckily, though, Ghost Pokemon do stop aging at around 350,000 years old.
As for the timeline of the Pokemon world in my headcanon, I don't have it exactly planned out, but it's not identical to the real world. All I can say for sure is that humans have existed almost as long as Pokemon have, and human civilization has developed at a much slower rate.
About 100,000 years have passed since Keep Me Warm took place. Lazuli, as well as the two children she had with Gem, are deceased. Chillie (the Froslass Gem is currently mated to) is NOT Lazuli reborn; the two have absolutely no connection.
And I keep the speech in parentheses because it's being translated from “SABLEYE SABLE SAB SABLEYE SA SABLEYE” to English."

on an unrelated topic, have you ever seen someone else's (or perhaps your own) character and thought "he/she looks a whole lot like (insert similar looking character here)". This mainly because in your Digimon crossover pic, Bloodstone looks a lot like Katia (its mainly the ears and fur color that fool me). Along that some Pokemon could pass as a Kerionian based on looks alone.
I just realized something I want to ask. How did Gem get his poor vision? Was it from an accident? Were his eyes damaged, was there some physical conflict (i think this this most likely), result of some brain damage, born with it, or was it inherited from his past life? I also did some math and reasearch. You mentioned Gem is ~270k years old during Brother to Brother. I did some math to find out when he did if he was exactly 270k years, and if the story takes place in modern day (2014-270000). This shows he died 267,986 years ago. Humans have only existed for ~200k years. This would make one of the first humans (and he wouldn't know what hell is either), or the story takes place several thousand years in the future.
Like I've explained before, the timeline of my Pokemon headcanon is not the same as real life (I still find it ridiculous that people keep assuming it is), and it may differ from that of the official Pokemon canon as well. As far as I'm concerned, humans have existed -almost- as long as Pokemon have, and that is a very very very VERY long time.
He was born with bad eyesight.
