The Guitarist (Digitally colored Tintype)
I'm a huge fan of the recent trend in coloring old photographs digitally, and I had some down time in the Lab today. I thought I'd try my hand at the art, and while I could have chosen a better image (maybe one that I didn't get from fucking Google Images and is less than 60kb large), I'm happy with my first try! It kinda looks more like a realist painting than a photo, though.

I think that most colorized photos are paper prints, but I really like the damaged/low fidelity look of Tintypes. I have no clue how the well-regarded artists making recent news are doing it but it was an interesting experiment to try and reverse-engineer the process from my own technique. I look forward to trying it again, hopefully this time with a better image from my own collection.
Thanks!
