That eagle head looks like the head from the mascot at my high school. 13 years later, I doubt they use the same one. But who knows?

Same head, but the body was different when I was going to school there. It would not surprise me at all if they updated to the same suit as that one by now.

Maybe that's why they went a little more extravagant. Seeing a good mascot tends to help rally the fans.

That is very true. Being a mascot is 90% personality, 10% everything else.
