-they normally keep their hair short or tied up so it doesn't get tangled in anything

Yeah, because clocks are practically obsolete and there are about 9999999 better uses for an INDESTRUCTIBLE BODY PART but the entire species as a whole has still agreed to be clockmakers. Not to mention they almost all have bad eyesight which is required for working with time pieces, but they just all get glasses because, again, the entire race has agreed, THIS is what all their collective efforts should go towards.
