Last year I noticed a cobweb style web. I returned to the web at night to find a large female Brown Widow. I noticed a similar web a couple of days ago in the same spot. I checked it out tonight and again to find yet another female Brown Widow...
I actually think it's the same one. Her colors have faded, which is normal with this species as it ages. They can live two to three years and she's picked a wonderful spot. There is some missing grout in the bricks and she can get pretty far into her little home, which protects her from predators and the colder winters.
Good to see her back.
