LIZZIE BELONGS TO:
skyebluephoenix
Lizzie is but one of a number of characters in which Skye has created that personify things that, sadly, some children must endure as they grow up.
Of all of Skye's characters, I feel I can connect most to Lizzie. So, I decided to draw her.
I'd say more, but
skyebluephoenix can do a better job in explaining this unique character. As does a story I wrote on behalf of Lizzie to show how, despite everything, there really are folks out there who care.

Aww, that's so cute, even though it's sad. Actually, Alexander is a much more tragic character, being more directly related to my own childhood. He's older and also severely bullied, and already depressed even though he's only 6. Lizzie has yet to start school, so she still sees the joy and wonder there is in the world, and is oblivious to the fact that her parents are neglectful. That doesn't mean she doesn't get lonely sometimes, like in this nice pic you drew.
You are right. Alexander is definitely more of a tragic character for what he has gone through, and continues to go through. He will always be a part of my mind as I try to think on how each member of your cast has additional meaning beyond the colors and poses and moments in which are illustrated.
Lizzie, for me, just connects. I wasn't neglected, but I have seen so many cases where parents are neglectful and how it impacts their children. It's amazing what a little attention, love, and support can do to keep a little one feeling confident and, for the most part, protected as long as possible from how cruel the world can really be.
When I see, or think of, Lizzie, I think of how badly I want to be the type of individual who tries to keep the Lizzies of the world from having to ever know how cruel it is. At least, not until they HAVE to know. Youth is so short, yet so influential. The longer you can hold off reality, or at least gradually wean a youngster into it, the better.
For me, at work and in real world situations, I feel like Lizzie. Just as, at the same time, I feel like Spike from the latest My Little Pony. A character who is largely neglected and usually left to always have to do things for him / herself in order to, hopefully, get some positive attention.
I am glad you liked this work as I did much thinking as I drew it. I was going to do a little write up. However, Lizzie is yours and I didn't want to say anything that wasn't true. Especially since, like some of Nishi's characters, I've bonded with them and, as such, have made my own, unique correlations to my life and there's.
