Well, Merlin said this was a surprise...
Interestingly, I was looking at an ending along those lines at one point early on, that Daryil Clan was developing an interstellar drive. I scrapped it because having them migrate away from Furrae seemed rather final and it was also too much like 'Illuminatus!'.
