Overall I'm proud of this. The only thing I'm not happy with is Kayko(bottom right corner). I have this habit of leaving crucial elements out of my pictures and then having to somehow add them in later, such is the case with Kayko. I redid him several times but couldn't get him to look quite right.
Anyway, an explanation...... I'm not going to reveal what's going on in this scene since its part of a story I'm planning on writing (In other words ask in a note if you want to know since its gonna be awhile before this is written, if it ever is).
The setting is the city Kayko was born in, Ryolite, which was destroyed by a macro when he was very young. Traumatized by what had happened, and now without an income, the two thirds or so of the populace that survived mostly abandoned the city, and the ruins were never cleared or rebuilt. Today only a couple thousand people live in the eastern portion of the city of the over 2 million that had once called it home. Kayko's neighbors took them with him to Bai'O when they fled the destruction, and he didn't see the city of his birth again for over two decades.
The attacks occurred about 20 years earlier and destroyed much of Lunana's economic base in the west of the country. The fortunate eastern cities which were spared the destruction, however, found themselves suddenly dealing with a huge tide of refugees. In one day over five thousand people arrived in Bai'O, a city already dealing with poverty and economic strain, resulting in many of the shanty towns that now border the city.
The Macro attacks lasted a couple weeks, moving from city to city with the macros vanishing soon afterward.
