By the way, I have a favour to ask of you. If you like dissonance, please feel free to hound me at least every sunday asking me where the next Dissonance is. I have spent this break planning out so many comics in advance that I have basically everything written up until the very end of the comic, so the only thing standing between you and a comic is my laziness/anxiety. So if you want more comics, pester me! I want to get back into the groove of doing at least weekly updates, and it would really help to know there are still people out there who want to know what happens to Dora and her friends.

I wouldn't blame the religion here, I would blame lack of reasoning skills. Even the most devout Christian (no matter which denomination, too) should be able to reason the chance of their pet being healed by this new, random internet sensation is so low that the cost of gas required to show up on the doorstep uninvited would be much better spent financing a visit to the local vet.

Religion and a lack of reasoning skills sort of go hand in hand, however. Out of 63 studies conducted since 1928, 53 found a negative correlation between intelligence and religious belief.

While I agree with the correlation in general, I do think that it has more to do with the way religion tends to be taught (and unfortunate the do-not-question attitude of many teachers) than the religion itself.

Disclosure: I come from a country where 93% of population declares themselves Roman Catholic and religion (or, to be more exact, Roman Christianity) is taught in primary schools, but I consider myself agnostic.
