I live in the Coachella Valley, in SoCal. It's like Hell, but worse. We had a stretch where it broke 130 F, 2 summers ago.

So, what are your thoughts on the Sci-Fi Channel's version of Dune?

Here's what I liked:

--good work for a low budget
--great casting
--I'm amazed how a guy with an American accent can play a true aristocrat
--very timely story re: some country in a desert with a big capital city with a heavily guarded fortress in the middle of it occupied by a foreign army. I'm not saying who (o_O);;;;;
--very nice homage to the 1984 production, to Mr. De Laurentis and Mr. Eno

Actually I didn't even knew they did something like that - I don't watch TV almost a all (I fianlly managed to get old Fallout Tactics game and it's eating all of that little free time I have:), but i definitevily check it out with my more watching friends!-D

I heard about it several years ago but finally found it at a used video place. I watched it the night before I drove to Oklahoma to see the granite hills...

There was a lot of European talent involved in the production. I would call it a European-American collaboration, an unusual item.

That's about right. There's some native oaks that can deal with it, but you have to wait decades for them to grow--they're real cautions about overextending themselves.
