Oh Puquanah! Always caring, always gentle, and always there. And the fact that he's blind but still lives a pretty normal life; I find it very inspirational. How could anyone not love him? Ransom should thank his lucky stars for having this little fox at his side.

I think it already has been awaken. Like Puck has already stated. He can't see Random's rotten exterior so he only sees the good core of him.
But as for there relationship they have been traveling for 5 years. He has to have opened up to Puck in those years to make him care an love him this much.
