It's a bit odd. Whenever I look up fanart for many series I like that feature canine characters (Balto, 101 Dalmatians: The Series, Oliver & Company, and All Dogs Go to Heaven especially), this character inevitably showed up somewhere, somehow. I honestly had no idea who she was, so I eventually looked her up. I've never seen The Fox and The Hound 2, nor do I intend to, but I observed this character's song, since I like some country-western songs here and there. While I'm not a fan of Reba McEntire, "Good Doggie, No Bone" was a decent little number...when it was just her singing, anyway. (The title and caption are references to said song, with its name and lyric "It's lonely at the top".)
Yet, from what I saw in said fanart searches, she doesn't appear to be lonely as I've seen her shipped with various characters and the illicit images one has to expect of the Internet. Not to mention the number of times I saw her interacting with Rita and/or Sasha La Fleur. This Dixie character seems to have a presence, doesn't she?
So, out of boredom and a desire for more practice with illustrating canine characters, I decided to try my hand at recreating Dixie. Because if it helps, why not?
