Artaxes: smaller form of the Greek name Artaxerxes, meaning "great warrior" or "lion-king."

He is the embodiment of the things that go bump in the night, as a chimera he can take any shape or form of things that people fear the most, he lives on that fear, taking off a year of life from his victims to survive. He enjoys creating nightmares, watching victims squirm and scream for mercy, not even caring if his victims do die in their sleep. He soon builds a kingdom based on the shadows of dreams, sometimes having incubi and succubi serve under him for protection in return for years if life they take out from lustful dreams.

Of course, with darkness there is light, his mortal enemy is Io, the chimera of sweet dreams. She sneaks in his nightmares to chase away any darkness and try to protect his victims from Artaxes and his minions. He tries every which way to capture and kill her, or keep her far away from his operations.
