Laelaps was a magical dog that would always capture his prey. It is said that he was first given to Europa of Crete by Zeus. Later he was then passed down to King Minos, then to Prokris and lastly to Kephalos of Athens.
It was said that Kephalos used the hound to try and catch the infamous Teumessian Fox. The giant fox was said to be uncatchable. A paradox happened as Laelaps was a hound who always caught his prey and the fox was uncatchable.
Zeus was upset about this and turned the pair into stone and tossed them into the constellation known as Canis Major and Minor. In doing so he froze both of them into a forever contest in the stars to play out for eternity.
Just something fun that I figured to do. It is also an interesting weekly article that I will post for a game for kiddies. I figure they will like this.
