Turnbull and his Bulbasaur head out of palette town and start their journey. I was super jazzed to get Bulbasaur because he was my first-ever starter. I was like 10 or 11 when the games first came out, so for reasons I still don't understand I named my Bulbasaur SPEEDRUNNR. Much in deference to what that term means now, I by no means made quick work of that game. I think I ended up catching all 150 pokemon after about 100 hours of gameplay and was one of the many who was let down by not getting Mew for catching them all.
Then one of my friends got a Gameshark and soon after we all had Mews.

Takes me back! My starter was a Squirtle I never evolved past a Wartortle. Strictly speaking though, it was a Pikachu, but I dumped it off as soon as I got cool ol' Squirtle in yellow.
Did the whole truck thing for Mew. And the 150 Pokemon thing. Oh boy, a sticker for my Game Boy Printer! If I had one.
Still, Pokemon is one of my top favourite games from my childhood!
