Gary Oldman wil probably go down in history as one of the best actors to play Jim Gordon, if not the best. To me, he completely captures the idea of Gordon: an honest cop who tries to abide by the law, but still believes in Batman. He doesn't know who Batman is because he doesn't care. The fact that anyone could be Batman makes him a greater force for good and hope. Even when he learns who Batman is at the end of Dark Knight Rises, he still believes in the power of Batman as both a symbol and a person rather than the power of Bruce Wayne.
