Red never was as good at making or identifying forgeries as Grey, and Karine has the benefit of knowing exactly what her family's ring looks like, so spotting a fake is easy. So when she flicks it out the window, Red's immediate thought is not "I'm glad she noticed it was fake", it's "SHIT, MY PAYCHECK!". Hence his panic in panel 2. :P
Once Grey admitted it was a forgery however, it's easy enough to regain his composure. Wedging in a panel of Red sighing with relief, however, cluttered the page up more than I liked. Hopefully it's clear enough without this bollocks in the description x)

Asking my own personal psychopath his thoughts on the matter, this is what I got:
