So...this is what I have so far for my Clockwork Dragon costume for Comic Con 2008.
Myself and a few of my friends are going steampunk and will proceed to run a muck at the Con...myself being the only weirdo wearing a mask.
I threw this stuff together right before I took the picture. The skirt is literally held up by that belt cos it's just a piece of leather i decided to wrap around my waist XD The strap across my chest will "hold up/on" my mechanical arm that's yet to be made. The top will also have different straps and the back will be changed too...Might even give the front a corset feel...or even put another belt thing under my boobies XD
So...what should I do to the mask? (other than add horns, I'm working on that) I know it's a bit bulky, so suggestions would be awesome on how to make it not bulky but still retain it's basic shape. Also, I'm still working on attaching the jaw, so it doesn't have foam on it yet.
Tell me whatcha think?

That will be awesome once you are finished . I never build mask so i can give you any good advice T_T, but regarding the "bulky" head. You are building a dragon right? Then the head is ok in my opinion, besides you still have to add horns so perhaps it is only an impression you get right now because of the missing part on the head
Thank you very much.
Yeah... it doesn't look quite as bulky in these pictures, but as I was looking in the mirror, it looked huge XD
Hopefully within the next couple weeks I'll have the horns on there and the jaw attached properly. Then I post again!
Thanks for the comment hon!

this is awesome so far, im in the same stages as you on my mask....im guessing missmonster's werewolf thing is what your using huh?
btw how did you hide the elastic straps on the mask. So far i think it looks awesome :3 it's really hard to see details on this or how we can see how to fix the bulky # gaw yours looks ten times better than mine....>< mines a mess ): but i love how it's turning out.
and your costume is freakin awesome :D

^^ Thanks very much. And yeah, I was talking to Scabrous via Myspace and he linked me to Missmonster's blog for her werewolf.
Since mine isn't going to have fur on it, I decided to put the jaw underneath the top part of the head. Meaning, in better wording, the inside of the right and left sides has the attachments for the lower jaw. I figured since it wasn't going to be covered, I should work around that and make spikey things to cover the gap between the top and bottom jaws. Yeah, I think I'll just have to cut down the foam and stuff...I'll have to see once I actually get the bottom jaw foam on there ^^;
Have you posted anything of your mask? I wanna see it! :D

no i haven't sadly D: i need to find a camera. but that's a good idea :3 mine won't have fur either so im trying to figure out how im going to make it work :D i will definatly try that on the jaw though thank you ^^. also are you going to put in a jaw membrane? im going to get some stretchy fabric for it.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too. Like...some sort of spandex or something similar to that. But I have to make it match whatever I paint the main head as...you know, in the same sort of color scheme cos I'll probably paint the mouth lighter ^^;
I'll post pictures maybe within the next few days of how I attached the jaw if you're interested in seeing it.

Yeah, I looked around for some horns, but I think I'm gonna make them so I can have them how I want. I did talk to
kiani about the hair, cos I occasionally talk to her at school and was with her at FC when she debued her Katje. ^^ She got me in touch with the awesome people who make wonderfully realistic hair.
I think I'm gonna go the mesh-way and also have wire and stuff...just have to see how it'll work though. Might end up being mighty heavy XD

Dude! That's looking so kick ass! <3
I has a questum. For AC I'm going as my notorious Captain Black (male fursona)
He's a pirate and I have almost everything I need except the belts. I need two large belts to hold my dual swords (or maybe one) Where did you get yours? I'm also not looking into anything for like $40 I don't need a replica pirate one or Jack Sparrows. I just need the width and fancy buckle.

I got my belt at a Salvation Army, but I wouldn't bet they'd have one again. The people there didn't even know what it was that they had XD
Um...just try some costume places. Ones that are open all year. We have the Halloween club and Costume castle that are open all year and when it's not halloween, they tend to mark down their stuff.
Otherwise, swap meets. That's where I got the belt that's across my chest and another one that I'm adding to the straps to make them better. Swap meets are awesome cos you can haggle and also you can modify the stuff you get for a lot less than you'd pay for something you might end up modifying anyways.
You can always try ebay too. My friend got a spy-glass for his steampunk costume for like 25 dollars when at a Ren Faire it was around 130 bucks!
And thank you for the comment! ^^ Hope I helped a little.

^^ Yeah, I know. The second would be very easy to throw together, considering all I need is to sew together some fur and create a hat XD But I'm focusing on my mask for now, gettting that done, colored and hair on it. Then the mechanical arm and "regular" arm with some claws or something. Last is a tail. If I can't make one by the con, oh well. i can do without that. XD But the mech arm is a must!
REALTIME.
No steampunk is good without mechanics. :3 And dang it, tails are cool.. You can't live without them.
So yeah, just work on that, work on the mask and keep the shaman costume for later, okay? :D Invest some time to that too and make it the most awesome shaman costume ever. XD
