Indeed, I have a love-hate relationship with this moral and its presence/application in media. Like many children's animated series, Pound Puppies also approached that ol' "Be Yourself" with its pup Camelia who, rather adeptly, was able to mimic/adapt to everyone else's personalities and capabilities to hide what she was truly like out of fear that she might be rejected for her true self. Which was ultimately revealed to be an apparent desire to act like a kitten. It really did weird out a lot of people, but it was cute in its way. And hey, it worked out for her in the end and saved her from having to live a lie. Although, again, she's a pretty good actress in retrospect.
Just to clarify, this was meant to be funny and not a shot in any way towards the lesson or any interpretations. As it stands, that episode was one of the better applications of the "Be Yourself" moral I've seen. But in any case, I have changed the caption, just to be safe.
