The rifle he is using is a Springfield M1903, and of course was made in 1903, long before we considered the country of Germany an enemy. Now, I researched this "lawsuit" that you claim was filed against this gun for looking like Mouser 1895, and I found no such thing, perhaps your mistaken for a different rifle?
Also, the tags clearly state he's in France, not Germany.
And lastly,. who says he has to be German to be a German Shepard? I could go on about Immigration from Europe to the USA, and how somewhere down the line his ancestors could have moved from Germany to the USA, but I wont. X3

He is clearly a long-standing member of the United States fighting forces.

Very untrue. Compare a mauser, mosin, and enfield action. The aspects of the mauser action (cock on close, safety position, multiple locking lugs) are distinctive, but most nations went with rifles made under license. In many ways the 1903 springfield is a mauser clone, moreso than other lawsuites over guns even (Glock VS S&W over the sigma).
oh god... you've unleashed them... there is no escape!! YOU'VE UNLEASHED THE WWII HISTORY FANATICS!!!! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!
lol just kidding, im one of those fanatics too! ^_^
problem is i know more about WWII era semi-auto rifles, SMG's, and light machine guns than most of the standard bolt-action rifles used, so i can't really add much to the below argument lol!

stumbled accross this. I know it's a year old, but I figured I'd add my 2 cents anyway.
Carl Fairborn XD That's totally the inspiration for this, amirite? Anywho, nicely done piece! My only crit would be his trigger finger. You never have your finger in the trigger housing until the moment you fire. It would be resting just above the housing on the stock any other time. Those triggers are so easy to accedentally pull, a proffessional shooter would never do that.
That's a minor nit pick though. this is a pretty nice piece mate.
