Kobolds are about my favorite thing ever. The last D&D character I made was a kobold cleric/sorcerer.

Kobolds make great sorcerers, actually they make great spellcaster in general. "Koviell" is the strongest D&D character I've made

They're just generally fun things to be and yeah preferred class sorcerer is super great. I had a cleric/sorcerer/mystic theurge named Kit Kat who had a weasel familiar Tik Tak and wore an ill-fitting suit of armor studded in shitty gems and colored glass. I think I focused largely on utility spells because we had other casters in the party. I always liked the idea that the weasel crawled around inside his plate mail and would just emerge from a part when needed.
