It seems odd, my GF's niece's DS went through the same thing. It could be a design flaw that is suddenly coming out. Her mother is getting it replaced.

Aw...that sux! I hope they replace that for you. That definitely seems to be a manufacture flaw. Even IF you dropped it, it would be near impossible to break it there.

I put in a repair request, and its a 50 $ replacement fee. The lady said it would alter my friend code, so i don't know if it'll mess with my games or not. i forgot to ask.

i see. well hmm what you can do is next time, make a nintendo account (if you dont ahve one cuz they give you extra warranty, otherwise this might happen. but i never havr gotten charged. at oeast not that i know of
