So let's call this species Mantispids. It's more of a given name(based on their appearance), since they do not have a spoken language, but rather communicate through a complex system of chemical signals. They do, however, have a written language, and as communications with other species increased, a sort of keypad speech unit has become a standard accessory, allowing them to type and translate their words so that those outside their species can understand them.
But really the "they can't talk" thing is something I came up with due to an inability to think of a name for a character. So, to get around that, I declare that his name is a smell.
