He's actually a DMFA 'Cubi, so they're essentially a race of shapeshifters rather than following Christian mythology to the letter. Likewise angels and demons in that setting are just races... Demons tend to be brutal but aren't automatically evil, and Angels usually are nasty but are better at hiding the bodies.
