OrthrusToad showing the dual nature of his sona, Ohrthraus!
Daaaaang. I'm so happy and proud of this piece, I think it turned out perfect. Not only was it epic to work on, but I had the pleasure of helping design both Orth's normal form (blue) and his new red, rage form (red) and combine them into one hell of a hydra!
So blue Orth is supposed to represent the ocean - crystal wings, chunks of coral as armour, shell-like plating, fish-hook tail made of oceanic rocks... Orth described the new form as being like anti-Orth and representing primal anger, so I took that and made him more volcanic-looking, looking to the hydrothermal vents as inspiration. Nastier chunks of coral, sharper scales, spines all over, wings of spines, and also an anchor tail! I thought making the tail reminiscent of an anchor would symbolize how the primal rage form holds Orth at the bottom of the sea, and how Orth has to fight against that to rise to the surface. :D
And because this has happened before, no, I'm not stupid, and those are NOT feathers on his wings. They are crystals and spines. And he uses them underwater, not in the air. (Yes, people actually thought before that I drew bird feathers like that. *points at the crystals* Read my d@mn descriptions, people!!! Or just take a look in my gallery and see how I draw normal wings, wallahi.)

Ugh, tell me about it! I've drawn this guy before, (albeit in 'normal' blue form,) and people were seriously saying things like 'Those feathers look strange,' and 'You know feathers don't look like that.' *headdesk* No wonder they look strange, they're not feathers! XD And to have people actually think I drew 'feathers' like that was pretty insulting, to say the least.
But anyway! That's one hell of a peeve of mine, for obvious reasons. XD Thanks a bunch! <3
