So, funny story about this....
I had a friend over and we were both trading pokemon on X and Y and he needed a ponyta and a couple other pokemon, so I decide to take my Rapidash and get an breed her for an egg. After hundreds of eevee eggs (must be like 900+ by now) and tons of time trying to get a shiny on other pokemon, the FIRST EGG I hatch for a ponyta is a shiny. My friend was mad that he didn't get one, I was confused, but it's my first shiny pokemon EVER so I'm not giving him up. His name is Frost Night and he's a cutie patootie. I did this really quick in about an hour or so.
