Finally got the Illumination of the scroll done!
To see this while it was a work-in-progress, check out my scraps. It has the pencil version and the inked version. :)
This scroll is based from a manifest that can be found here: http://www.bl.uk/catalogues/illuminatedmanuscripts/record.asp?MSID=4670&CollID=8&NStart=487
Done on 8.5x11" (more or less) hot-press watercolour paper (uh...I don't remember the weight of it, currently). Inked by dip-pen with Higgins Magic Ink, and painted with gouache. Gold is pearl-gold goauche.
Once I get more practice with making more scrolls, then I'll worry about gilding with gold leaf ;)
Yay my first scroll =D

Hibbary has a tutorial about dying paper, in case you´re interested: http://hibbary.deviantart.com/art/H.....Paper-75522515 :)
Oo coolies! Thanks for the link :)
*nods* I'll still have to ask the scribes to see if we're allowed to do it on paper like that - in most cases, I've seen SCAdian scrolls done just white paper, with a few done on black paper (which really looks cool too!) or parchment, but never dyed paper like that O.o Either way, it'd be cool to just experiment with that =D
